Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "TROY, N.Y. / POTTERY.," NY State origin, circa 1875, semi-ovoid jug with squared spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird perched on a branch. Cobalt accents to maker's mark and capacity mark. A shallow 1 1/2" flake to top of spout. Other small spout chips. Staining to surface. An in-the-firing iron ping to proper left side of jug. A 1 1/4" line in shoulder. In-the-firing fissures to underside. H 16".
