Rare and Fine Redware Charger with Copper Slip Decoration, Inscribed "NB / 15," Norwalk, CT or Poughkeepsie, NY origin, first half 19th century, with coggled edge, the lead-glazed interior decorated with speckled copper slip foliate motifs and the script inscription, "NB / 15." The form, color, and specific coggling used suggest a Norwalk, Connecticut origin, although a related copper-slip-decorated dish, inscribed "E Selby / Conover," is attributed to the partnership of Edward Selby and Abraham Conover in Poughkeepsie, New York, during the 1840s. Desirable color and size featuring elaborate slip application. Very nice condition with rim chips and minor surface wear to interior. Diam. 14 7/8".
