Four-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "NEW YORK / STONEWARE CO. / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.," circa 1875, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird perched on a spotted leaf. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Chips to interior and exterior of rim. Base chips, which appear to be in-the-firing. Two minor in-the-firing contact marks to proper right handle. Minor staining. H 11 1/2".
