Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "J. SHEPARD, JR. / GEDDES. N.Y.," circa 1858-1859, ovoid jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a brushed and slip-trailed design of a flower with spotted blossom, besides a script "2" with flourish below. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Some fry to cobalt. Proper left side of jug with an in-the-firing iron ping and small piece of adhered clay. Some light staining. H (excluding stopper) 14".
