Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stamped "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO'," PA origin, circa 1850-1880, semi-ovoid jar with flared collar, the surface dipped in cream-colored slip and decorated with heavy cobalt sponging around the shoulder area. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with minor in-the-firing flaws and some faintness to maker's mark. H 8".
