One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1840, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder and squared rim, brush-decorated completely around the shoulder with a stem bearing fan-shaped flowers and graduated leaves. An approximately 5" wide U-shaped crack ascending from bottom edge, part of which ascends the base 3 1/2" diagonally, and the other part ascending the base 1 3/4" vertically. A few minor rim chips. Some light wear / light bubbling to cobalt. A 1 1/2" salt drip to one side. Shoulder with a few small in-the-firing pings and one small in-the-firing contact mark. H 12".
