Two Pieces of Salt-Glazed Stoneware, Stamped "J.D. CRAVEN," Randolph and Moore Counties, NC, second half 19th century, a semi-ovoid jug with semi-squared mouth, paired with a two-gallon handled jar with coggled "2" below maker's mark and original lid. Jug with light staining to surface. Jar with a 7 1/2" crack from rim on reverse, the interior of the rim with a chip, minor nick, and minor in-the-firing ping. Lid with small chips to edge and flange on underside, a small chip to finial, and an in-the-firing ping to top surface. H (of jug) 9 1/2".
