Very Rare Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Canning Jar, Inscribed "S R," attributed to Solomon Rudisill, Catawba Valley, NC, fourth quarter 19th century, thin-walled, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and flaring, semi-squared rim, covered in a mottled olive-green alkaline glaze. Shoulder incised "X S R-." Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 8 3/4".
