Rare One-Quart Stoneware Pitcher with Freehand Cobalt Decoration, Western PA origin, circa 1875, ovoid pitcher with tooled accents to base of collar and rim, brush-decorated with an undulating vine above the gallon notation, "1/4," for one-quarter gallon. Freehand stripe decoration to collar. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Desirable form and exceptional size. Provenance: From a fifty-year West Virginia collection. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 7".
