One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to David Greenland Thompson, Morgantown, WV, circa 1865, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, decorated with a finely-brushed design of a hanging bellflower. Impressed with Thompson one-gallon capacity mark on top of rim. Provenance: From a fifty-year West Virginia collection. A few in-the-firing dents to inner edge of rim. A 7/8" chip to interior of rim and a minor chip to interior of rim. H 9 3/4".
