Rare Stoneware Canning Jar with Cobalt Stripe and Stenciled Cherries Decoration, attributed to Stephen H. Ward, West Brownsville, PA, circa 1870, tapered jar with tooled shoulder and squared "wax sealer" rim, featuring a stenciled design of a cluster of cherries between two pairs of freehand stripes. Heavy chipping to rim and inner wax sealer rim. A 4" crack on underside, continuing 5" up front of jar. Some minor surface wear. H 10".
