One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "B.C. MILBURN / ALEXA," Alexandria, VA origin, circa 1860, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, squared rim, and arched tab handles, brush-decorated on the front with handle-to-handle motif of a stem bearing leaves and flowers. Reverse with hanging floral motifs. Impressed with B.C. Milburn maker's mark at base below a one-and-a-half-gallon capacity mark. Base chips. Some old traces of blue paint, unrelated to any sort of restoration. H 9 5/8".
