Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Nanticoke, MD Advertising, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1880, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and squared spout, impressed with the cobalt-highlighted advertising, "J F JESTER / DEALER IN / DRY GOODS, GROCERIES&C / NANTICOKE MD.," surrounded by a wreath-like swag motif. Reverse with two-stemmed clover plant design. Rim chips, one of which is glazed over. Crazing to underside, not visible on interior. An in-the-firing line and an in-the-firing surface separation on interior, not visible on exterior. H 10 1/8".
