One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Slip-Trailed Cobalt Decoration, Stamped "B.C. MILBURN / ALEXA," Alexandria, VA origin, circa 1850, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, arched tab handles, and semi-rounded rim, decorated on the front, reverse, and below each handle with a draped chain link motif. Circumferential wavy line decoration below rim. A 5 3/4" crack from rim on front. Base chipping, most of which occurred in the firing. A 2" flake to one handle. A small chip to interior of rim. A few tiny nicks to exterior of rim. H 9 3/4".
