Three-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Bird Decoration. New England origin, third quarter 19th century, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, squared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of bird with long tail, ringed neck, and heavily-spotted body, perched on a curving vine. Slip-trailed "3" below. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with some light water glass staining to interior. H 9 5/8".
