Fine One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "J.M. HICKERSON / STRASBURG, VA," circa 1880, ovoid pitcher with flared base, tall collar, and tooled accents to collar and body, decorated with a sweeping stem bearing three large tulips and graduated leaves. Brushed stripe decoration flanking the spout. Impressed on collar with J.M. Hickerson maker's mark above a one-and-a-half-gallon capacity mark. Heavy chipping to base. A thin 3 1/2" crack from rim. Chipping to tip of spout. A rim chip on reverse. A tight Y-shaped crack on underside, forming a 6 1/4" tight spider crack on front of pitcher.H 12 3/4".
