Rare Four-Gallon Stoneware Jar, Stamped "W.W. BALLARD," Dockery, NC origin, circa 1880, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, arching tab handles, and flattened, semi-rounded rim, the surface covered in a salt glaze. Impressed with "W.W. BALLARD" maker's mark below an incised "4". A 3 1/2" loss to rim on reverse. A long, tight horizontal crack at base, including a second line extending perpendicularly off from it onto underside.
