Four-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "L.D. FUNKHOUSER & CO. / STRASBURG, VA," circa 1880, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, squared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated on the front and reverse with diagonal floral motifs. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals and daubed decorations below handles. A very tight 7 3/4" diagonal line to midsection on reverse. Hairlines to underside, extending onto base. Rim chips. A large chip and small chip to one handle.
