Rare Small-Sized Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Churn with Lid, SC origin, circa 1880, cylindrical form with tapered shoulder and tall, squared rim, the surface covered in a streaky greenish-brown alkaline glaze. Includes original lid with tooled and flared opening, also covered in an alkaline glaze. The churn's small size, measuring roughly one-half-gallon to three-quarts, as well as the inclusion of its original lid, are noteworthy. Churn in excellent condition with two rim chips and a faint 1 3/4" line from rim. Lid in very nice condition with a few chips to rim of opening.` H (including lid) 9 1/8".
