Fine Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Pheasant-on-Stump Decoration, Stamped "J. & E. NORTON, / BENNINGTON VT," circa 1855, cylindrical jug with tapered spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a pheasant with turned head, perched on a tree stump atop a shrubbed ground. Good feather detail to bird's neck, breast, and tail. Excellent condition with a few in-the-firing surface chips and some minor nicks to spout.
