Glazed Redware Pitcher, probably PA origin, mid 19th century, ovoid form with footed base, heavily-tooled shoulder, and flared rim with pinched pouring spout, the lead-glazed surface decorated around the midsection with a horizontal manganese stripe flanked above and below with daubs of manganese. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from a recently-surfaced Northeastern U.S. collection assembled decades ago. A 1 1/4" x 1 1/4" chip to underside at edge. A long Y-shaped hairline to underside, part of which continues 2 1/4" onto base on side of pitcher. Two other small base chips. Glazed wear to handle. Light glaze wear to rim. H 8 3/4".
