Slip-Decorated Redware Plate, Philadelphia, PA origin or possibly Pruden Pottery, Elizabeth, NJ, 19th century, with coggled edge, the interior nicely-decorated in yellow slip with two opposing groups of four foliate motifs and two opposing flag-like trails. While redware dishes of this specific style are typically attributed to Philadelphia, the ceramic historian, Edwin Atlee Barber, reportedly saw such pieces been kept as remaining inventory from the Pruden Pottery of Elizabeth, NJ. Very nice condition with a 3/4" shallow chip or in-the-firing ping to edge, as well as a few other minor chips to edge, and some light wear to interior. Diameter 12 1/2".
