Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to John P. Schermerhorn, Richmond, VA, circa 1830, ovoid jar with heavily-tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated on the front and reverse with an undulating vine bearing two blossoms. Freehand cobalt "30" underneath each handle. Tight spider cracks on underside and throughout body of jar. A chip to one handle. Nicks to shoulder molding on one side. Some light surface wear. Tiny base chips.
