Scarce Kyger, Ohio Stoneware Canning Jar, Western PA origin, circa 1875, tapered jar with rounded "wax sealer" rim, featuring the stenciled cobalt advertising, "Wm. BRADBURG. / DEALER IN / GENERAL / MERCHANDISE / KYGER. O.". Freehand stripe decoration to shoulder and base. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from a long-term Southern VA collection. A shallow chip and some wear to interior of rim. Two shallow chips and some wear to inner wax sealer rim. A drip of gray paint, unrelated to any sort of restoration, to rim area. H 10 1/4".
