Large-Sized Redware Bowl with Manganese Decoration, Stamped "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO'", Pennsylvania origin, circa 1850-1880, tapered bowl with triple-beaded rim in the Hagerstown style, the interior decorated with profuse manganese sponging and covered in a clear lead glaze. Shoulder impressed with John Bell maker's mark. Provenance: A recently-surfaced example, consigned from Chicago. A thin, sealed crack from rim, measuring approximately 4 1/4". Otherwise excellent condition with light wear to interior. H 5 1/2" ; Diameter 13 1/4".
