Glazed Stoneware Hound-Handled Pitcher, Stamped "AMERICAN POTTERY CO. / JERSEY CITY, N.J.," circa 1840, molded hound-handled pitcher with hunt scene depicting hounds taking down a boar and a stag, the shoulder with relief oak branch motif. Exterior surface covered in an Albany slip glaze. Underside impressed with American Pottery Company maker's mark. Tight hairline across underside, extending 2" up front, barely visible on exterior. Otherwise excellent condition. H 9 1/4".
