One-Gallon Lidded Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "LYONS", Thompson Harrington, Lyons, NY, circa 1860, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, flared collar, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed design of a tulip with spotted accents to the blossom and leaves. Brushed cobalt "1" at shoulder. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Includes salt-glazed lid. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from a long-term private collection. Jar with rim chips and a 3 3/4" crack from rim on reverse. Lid in excellent, essentially as-made condition; it does not fit properly, and is probably not original to the jar.
