Very Rare Large-Sized George Ohr Pottery Wall Bracket, Biloxi, MS origin, late 19th century, slab-constructed, shield-form wall bracket with relief urn motif, the surface covered in clear glaze over scroddled clay. Pierced with two original holes for hanging. Exceptional form and large size. Provenance: The Stradlings; Purchased from James Carpenter on June 18, 1973 from the original collection he bought from the Ohr family. Large in-the-firing separations between the bracket and shield-form back. An additional large, in-the-firing separation extending across the back, through to the two original piercings. These separations are held together with glaze. A few shallow chips to edge and a few in-the-firing contact marks to surface. H 16" ; W 11 3/4".
