Very Rare Miniature Stoneware Jar with Impressed Floral Decoration, Incised "E.W.", Southern U.S. origin, circa 1840-1880, diminutive, ovoid jar with semi-rounded rim, decorated with seven four-petaled flower blossoms with cross-hatched interiors and cobalt highlights. An additional square-shaped stamp is lightly-impressed overlapping one of these designs, unintentionally left by the potter. Underside incised with the initials, "E.W.". Albany-slip-glazed interior. Excellent size and decoration. Provenance: Originally found near the Kentucky / Tennessee border, near Tompkinville, Kentucky. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 2 3/4" ; Diameter (across top) 3 1/4".
