Manganese-Decorated Redware Jar, Pennsylvania origin, 19th century, squat-shaped jar with footed base, rounded shoulder, and flared rim, the shoulder decorated with an incised wavy line design. Surface decorated with a wide, undulating band of manganese and covered in a clear lead glaze. A nicely-decorated example. Light wear to rim and body. Reddish paint around entire foot, which appears unnecessary. This paint covers no visible damage, except for an approximately 1 3/4" area of smooth chips to foot, which may have occurred in the making. H 6".
