Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Canning Jar, Southern U.S. origin, second half 19th century, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder and narrow, flaring rim, the surface covered in a streaky olive-green alkaline glaze. In-the-firing residue to bottom edge. Additional shallow chipping to bottom edge likely occurred in-the-firing as well. Faint hairlines to underside. H 9 1/4".
