Six-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Bird-on-Stump Decoration, Stamped "F.T. WRIGHT & SON / TAUNTON, MASS.", circa 1870, large-sized, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a large slip-trailed design of a crested bird perched on a tree stump surrounded by ground cover. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Desirable size and decoration. Provenance: David Musser Collection. A small chip and tiny nick on interior of rim. A minuscule nick to one handle. H 13 1/4".
