Five-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, Stamped "R.W. RUSSELL / BEAVER, PA", circa 1860, pail-shaped jar with heavily-tooled shoulder, large lug handles, and semi-squared rim, decorated with a boldly-brushed vine motif. Large cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Brushed cobalt highlight along right handle. A touched-up area to one leaf on front. No corresponding damage is visible in the interior. Light wear to surface.
