Exceptional Five-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Double-Parrot Decoration, Stamped "F.B. NORTON & CO. / WORCESTER, MASS.", circa 1870, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a large slip-trailed design of two facing parrots perched on branches emanating from a stylized floral motif. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. A scarce and striking F.B. Norton design, exhibiting outstanding color. A spider crack on underside, which form a J-shaped crack on right side of crock. Spots of staining to surface. A chip to interior of rim. H 12 1/2".
