Extremely Rare "ROOT,S GINGER SPRAY" Stoneware Cup, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1875, small-sized, tapered cup, featuring the impressed and cobalt-highlighted advertising "ROOT'S GINGER SPRAY / BALTO ST NEAR LIGHT / BALTIMORE MD". One of a small number of "ROOT,S GINGER SPRAY" advertising pieces known. Exceptional in form and subject matter. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, purchased by the consignor approximately twenty years ago. Two vertical hairlines from rim on front. Some restoration to rim and shoulder area on front, not affecting advertising. A small rim chip to reverse. A tight diagonal/horizontal surface line to base area, not visible on interior. H 3".
