Six-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Geometric Cobalt Decoration, Stamped "J. WEAVER", Beaver, PA, circa 1865, large-sized, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and flattened rim, the front decorated with an unusual geometric cobalt design featuring diamonds bisected by a wavy line, with dashed brushwork above and below. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. Some scattered exfoliation to left side. Some additional wear to surface. A tiny chip and 1/4" line in one handle. A small chip to opposite handle. A tiny stone ping to shoulder on reverse. H 16".
