Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Profuse Cobalt Floral Decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1840, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and squared rim, decorated with two large double-stemmed clover motifs flanking a third, smaller clover design. The curved stem of the clover plant and asymmetrical application of the designs are unusual. A top-to-bottom crack from rim, which forms an X on underside, which additionally continues onto base, where it forms a long T and other very short lines at base. Two small rim chips. Rim secured with wire.
