Rare Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "O.V. LEWIS / GREENWICH", New York State origin, circa 1850, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, flattened rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a flowering plant bearing four blossoms. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. A 3" hairline from rim on reverse. Several rim chips filled with an orange residue. A few minor, unfilled rim chips.
