Two Early Pieces of Northeastern U.S. Stoneware, possibly New Jersey, 18th and 19th centuries, a two-gallon ovoid jug with tooled spout and coggled shoulder, possibly second or third quarter 18th century; paired with a four-gallon jar with elaborate incised and combed decoration and stylized cobalt brushwork. Jug with a small base chip and in-the-firing contact marks to surface. Jar with large, wide Y-shaped crack on one side, which forms an X on underside, heavy chipping to base, and two rim chips. H (of jug) 14 1/2".
