Scarce Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stenciled "JOHN MAGEE / INDIANA, PA.", circa 1875, cylindrical jar with semi-squared rim and tooling to body and shoulder, featuring John Magee maker's stenciling with stenciled flourish at the center, applied over a slip wash. A 6 1/2" inverted Y-shaped crack from rim. A 5 1/4" crack from rim. A long Y-shaped hairline on underside, which extends onto base. A small chip to shoulder molding on reverse.
