Scarce and Very Fine Stoneware Master Salt with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, New York State origin, circa 1845, ovoid form with pedestal base, the rim and base embellished with serrated coggling, the circumference decorated with brushed cobalt leaves. Heavy cobalt banding around rim area and base. A delicately-potted example of a desirable stoneware form. A 7/8" base chip. Two small rim chips and some wear to rim. H 1 1/2" ; Diameter (across top) 2 1/2".
