Half-Gallon Vertical-Handled Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Decoration, probably Manhattan origin, fourth quarter 18th century, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, footed base, and open loop handles, decorated with haphazard cobalt brushwork around the shoulder with appealing cobalt drips descending from the handle terminals. A small glazed-over base chip and other minor base nicks. One small rim chip. A 3" X-shaped line to side of jar, not visible on the interior. H 7 1/2".
