Rare Glazed Redware Bowl, Stamped "D.M. BAKER'S POTTERY / WAYNESBORO, PA", circa 1875, tapered form with semi-squared rim, the interior coated in a clear lead glaze with iron flecking. Impressed on shoulder with the scarce maker's mark of Daniel M. Baker of Waynesboro, PA. Underside incised "15". The majority of known signed Baker pieces exist in the form of simple redware jars with unglazed exteriors. All other signed forms are considered unusual. This example is the first bowl from this pottery we have ever offered. Some scratches to glaze on interior base. Small, shallow rim chips. H 4 3/8" ; Diameter 10 1/4".
