One-Gallon Stoneware Batter Pail with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to the Whites Pottery, Utica, NY, circa 1885, ovoid pail with pouring spout and wood-and-wire bail handle, decorated on the front with a drooping flower motif in bright cobalt slip. Minor nick to one ear. A smooth chip to spout, possibly in-the-firing. A few minor chips to underside at edge. A 1 1/8" in-the-firing contact mark at base on side of pail. A small shallow chip to rim molding on reverse.
