One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "J.A. & C.W. UNDERWOOD, / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.," circa 1865-1867, cylindrical jug with flattened, semi-rounded spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of crested bird with long tail, perched on a stylized branh. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Fry to cobalt. Base with two in-the-firing dents and an iron ping.
