Exceptional Shenandoah Valley Multi-Glazed Redware Tankard Pitcher, attributed to J. Eberly & Co., Strasburg, VA, circa 1890, cylindrical pitcher with footed base, heavily-tooled shoulder, and ribbed strap handle, the surface covered in cream-colored slip and decorated with heavy green and brown splashes. One of the finest Strasburg tankard pitchers we have ever offered, exhibiting particularly vibrant copper and manganese decoration. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, purchased decades ago in the Mid-Atlantic region. Short and very faint line descending from right side of spout. Typical spout wear and some light rim wear. Some typical glaze wear to base and interior bottom. H 9 1/4".
