Shenandoah Valley Copper-Decorated Redware Flowerpot, Stamped "S. BELL & SON / STRASBURG," circa 1890, ovoid pot with semi-rounded rim and attached saucer, the surface covered in a whitish slip and decorated with a heavy brushed copper glaze. Impressed with an S. BELL & SON maker's mark below rim. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, purchased decades ago in the Mid-Atlantic region. Losses to base. Wear and a few shallow chips to rim. 2 1/2" hairline from rim. 1" surface line from rim, visible on exterior only. Minor wear to bottom edge. H 6 1/4".
