Extremely Rare Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Carriage Foot Warmer, Northeastern U.S. origin, second half 19th century, cylindrical form with rounded top edge and flattened top, the side fitted with a circular bunghole. Decorated completely around the circumference with a boldly-brushed floral design. Cobalt spots to bunghole and flourish below. The first example of this form in American stoneware we have offered. 1 1/4" chip to top edge. Two minor chips to bottom edge. 1 1/2" in-the-firing, partially glazed-over crack on top surface, continuing 4" to left of bunghole. Diameter 11 5/8" ; H 4 7/8".
