Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Spittoon, Western PA origin, circa 1875, with flared base, nicely-tooled shoulder, and carved semi-circular opening at shoulder, the circumference and top surface decorated with brushed cobalt swags. Additional brushed cobalt stripe at base and around top edge. Cobalt highlight to opening at shoulder. Fry to cobalt. Tight 3 1/4" Y-shaped hairline extending from opening on top. A few chips to opening at shoulder. Small shallow chip to rim. 1 3/4" salt drip to side of spittoon at base. Small chip to underside at edge. H 4 1/2" ; Diameter 8".
