Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Spittoon with Relief Decoration, Northeastern U.S. origin, probably Whites Utica, late 19th century, large-sized spittoon with elaborate rim molding and oval opening at shoulder, the circumference decorated with raised, cobalt-highlighted foliate designs flanking a shield. Greek key banding at base. Albany-slip-glazed interior. Large base chips. Three small chips to bottom edge of rim. 1 1/2" hairline from opening on top surface. Two shallow connected chips to top edge. Some wear to top surface. H 5 7/8" ; Diameter 11 1/2".
